Blackfly Survey was founded in 2023 when owner, Conor Loftus, took a fateful work trip to Nova Scotia. As part of his role as a content producer, he was tasked with covering the daily tasks of Insurance Response Specialists on the ground assisting customers who had lost everything in the wildfires that occurred in May 2023.
Aside from the terrifying magnitude of all that was lost from just a small fire, one thing became clear - the need for a different perspective.
Having used UAVs for capturing content previously, Conor wondered how this technology can be used to better prepare Canadians for the uncertain future that we all face.
And so Blackfly was formed; utilizing UAVs to gather images, video, and photogrammetry data to provide clients and service agencies with the data they need to plan for the future.
